Summers in Wadsworth

In June, our city hosts the annual Blue Tip Festival. This 5 day celebration kicks off with a wonderful parade, rumored to be one of the longest in the state of Ohio. The parade Grand Marshall has the honor of lighting the giant, 20 foot tall Blue Tip match, which remains lit throughout the festival.

The festival includes rides, food, games, contests, a merchant’s tent. The Blue Tip Festival gets it’s name from the historic “strike-anywhere” Blue Tip Matches, which were manufactured here, and were said to be favorites of Winston Churchill. The Blue Tip festival is a slice of Americana at its best.
