Wadsworth... Something for Everyone

What makes Wadsworth a great place to visit? There’s something for everyone. From fun events to quaint local attractions, it’s easy to please each member of the family in our charming community.

The city of Wadsworth is well known for its over 200 acres of recreation located in 17 parks scattered throughout the city. With walking trails, playgrounds, tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields and more, activities abound for both young and old.

The Arts

Arts abound in the city with our downtown summer concert series and various performing arts events throughout the year. Historic O.J. Work auditorium in downtown is the center for most performing arts events. But, with the completion of our high school in 2012, a state-of-the-art performing auditorium will add to the cultural offerings of Wadsworth.

Our Summers

In June, our city hosts the annual Blue Tip Festival. This 5 day celebration kicks off with a wonderful parade, rumored to be one of the longest in the state of Ohio. The parade Grand Marshall has the honor of lighting the giant, 20 foot tall Blue Tip match which remains lit throughout the festival. The festival includes rides, food, games, contests, a merchant’s tent as well as the annual “Matchstick 4 Mile” run. The Blue Tip Festival gets it’s name from the historic “strike-anywhere” Blue Tip Matches which were manufactured here. These matches were said to be favorites of Winston Churchill. This festival is a slice of Americana at its best.

If you love to shop, you’ll love Wadsworth. From our historic downtown with its’ unique shops and boutiques to our Great Oaks and Wadsworth Crosssings districts complete with specialty shops to national chains, shoppers can find everything they need and more.

For dining, Wadsworth offers plenty of choices on the menu. Whether you ‘re looking for fast food, ethnic flare, family dining or gourmet choices, all your tastes can be satisfied here.

And, in the summer, don’t forget to stop at the Blue Sky Drive-in…one of the few remaining drive-in movies still in operation.
